Abstract prints of lines in the sand at low tide.
Introducing Sandscapes!
I’m so excited to finally launch this series! I actually photographed these lines in the sand left behind by the tide back in 2016, but it’s been a long road to get to the final result.
When I took the pictures, I had a definite idea of how I wanted the prints to look, but once I got to work on the files, I started doubting myself. After a few weeks of trying different things, I decided to put the project on hold to let my brain mull it over for a bit. A bit turned into 6 months, a year, two years, five years…
I have gone back to these images and tried out different ideas SO many times over the years, but nothing gave me that excited “this is it!” feeling. Last spring, I thought I had finally got it, and finalized the series, had the prints all done and ready to go. But I didn’t release them. Something kept nagging at me, I had a gut feeling that they weren’t quite done yet. So once again, I put them aside.
And then one morning last summer, I woke up with a brand new “what if” idea in my head. I ran downstairs to try it and saw immediately that this was it; I had finally figured them out!
The end result after all these years is actually quite a bit different from what I originally had in mind, but in my opinion, it’s so much better. I’m so happy with how they turned out in the end, and I can’t wait to hear what you think!
