Côte d’Azur: The Mediterranean From Above

My latest series from the Côte d’Azur is a bit different from my usual work, but I just couldn’t resist these beautiful vibrant shades of blue and the abstract pattern of the floor of the Mediterranean.

Several people have asked me if these were shot with a drone or from a helicopter, and the answer is neither!

Basse Corniche by Cattie Coyle Photography

I photographed this series from the Basse Corniche, the lowest of the three cliff roads that run along the Riviera from Nice to Menton with the mountains on one side and the Mediterranean on the other. There is one thrilling / terrifying hairpin turn after another, cool tunnels, and of course endless breathtaking views. The elevation varies – sometimes you’re pretty close to sea level, other times you have a bird’s eye view.

I walked the Basse Corniche from Villefranche-sur-Mer to Cap d’Ail (where I shot these images) on a beautiful day in June last year. The walk took me about 5 hours and was absolutely spectacular. I can’t wait to do it again! But more on that in a future blog post.

There are 4 prints in this series; all come unframed or framed in sizes up to 40×60 inches (100×150 cm).
