Fall Afternoons at Wingaersheek Beach
Wingaersheek Beach
Wingaersheek is a beautiful little beach at the end of a long, winding country road in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It takes a little bit of time to get out there, but it’s such a pretty drive! The road goes past small farms, cute New England houses, and marshes with lots of birdlife.

To me, it has always felt like a relatively small beach but it’s actually quite big, it’s just that a large part of it is private. I didn’t even realize quite how large it is until we went on an Essex River cruise and saw it from the water (highly recommended!).

The beach is just as pretty on a foggy day as it is when the sun is shining.

Aside from the ocean and the views of the village of Annisquam across the water, one of my favorite things here are all the birds, especially in the fall when a lot of migrating birds come through this area.
If you happen to be on the Massachusetts North Shore in the fall, and especially if you’re visiting Cape Ann, stop by Wingaersheek beach. It’s a great little road trip any time of year, but in the fall, the ride is extra pretty, plus you can have the beach mostly to yourself, and parking is plenty and free (vastly different from the summer months)!

If there’s a particular image in this post that you would like as a print but don’t see in my store, just get in touch and let me know which image it is, and the size you would like. I’m happy to do a custom print whenever possible.
