Green Art for St. Patrick’s Day (and beyond)
GREEN ART
Green is one of my favorite colors, especially seafoam green and muted pastel shades, and since I’m writing this on St. Patrick’s Day I thought it would be a perfect time to share a few of my favorite green art prints.
Even though St. Patrick’s Day is usually anywhere from chilly to freezing around here, it has always felt like the official start of spring to me. And since it’s only a few days before the vernal equinox, it kind of is. Another “green” event!
sunstars
The sparkling green Sunstars print is both one of mine, and a collector favorite.
I photographed it from a dock on a spring morning in Annisquam, Massachusetts, and I love the muted green and all those happy sun bursts in it.
It has been a perennial favorite ever since, and was even featured in San Diego Magazine (image on the left).
magoito No. 12
I photographed the Magoito series at Praia do Magoito on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, on a summer day when the ocean was every shade of green, blue, and turquoise you can imagine.
I love the colors in this image, that bright seafoam green, and also the summery, happy, carefree feel of it. The image on the right is of it as a 40×60 print in one of my customers’ home.
FOX TAIL AGAVE
This one is a little bit different from my usual work.
I photographed this Fox Tail Agave plant in Southern California, and I love the sculptural shape of the leaves, and the pale sage green color.
On the beach No. 6
More from Portugal.
I photographed these beach cabanas on a foggy summer day in a small beach town south of Porto, Portugal. I loved the pale teal color stripes, and the symmetry of the tents, and the fog gave the whole scene such a beautiful dreamy feel.

the color green: psychology and bENEFITS
Even if you don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, you might want to think about adding more green art to your home or office (or home office). Studies have shown that looking at the color green sparks creativity, helps you focus, and increases innovative thinking. It also symbolizes harmony, joy, and optimism, and even helps your body heal faster. Not bad!
