Beach Prints: A Few Favorites to Celebrate World Beach Month

Beach Prints: A Few Favorites

Happy World Beach Month! Summer might be over, but September is actually one of my favorite months. It’s still summery and comfortably warm (unless you’re in Scandinavia 🙂), not that painful height of summer heat, the beaches are not as packed, and it’s a perfect time to travel (especially in southern Europe), with lower prices and fewer crowds.

As I was writing this post, I was thinking: Which do I think is the best beach in the world (that I have been to)? If I had to pick one, and only one, to go to for the rest of my life, which would it be? But that’s an impossible choice, how can you pick just one when there are so many amazing beaches out there? I can’t. But these are a few of my favorites:

The wide beaches of Southern California with that dreamy, muted light.

The glamorous beaches of the French Riviera with turquoise Mediterranean water and that special South of France light.

The scenic beaches of Portugal, with their often slightly nostalgic feel.

The small but beautiful, quiet beaches of Gotland, Sweden.

The tropical paradise of St. John, USVI with palm-fringed beaches and water so turquoise you have to see it to believe it.

And finally, Good Harbor beach, my favorite in New England, where I spend almost every morning possible, walking and photographing and marveling at nature and how the same beach can look and feel so different from one day to the next, depending on the weather and tides.

Do you have a favorite beach? Which do you think is the best beach in the world? Please share in the comments, I’d love to hear about it!
