Minimalist Abstract Art Print “Shadow” gets Honorable Mention

I hardly ever enter photo contests, I know I should, but… There’s a lot to juggle as a solopreneur and some things keep getting pushed down on the to do list.

But earlier this year, I decided to give it a try, and in the spring entered two different contests. I had actually totally forgotten about them, but the other day, I got some exciting news: my image “Shadow” received an honorable mention in the Minimalist Photography Awards’ Fine Art category! 😃🎉

It took me a long time to feel comfortable with sharing this image (even though I love it), since it’s pretty different from my usual work. My first love will always be the ocean, but I have a fascination with architecture too, and love creating minimalist abstract images of buildings. Of white stone houses in particular, the kind you find in southern Europe (and also on the island in Sweden where I grew up). When I find a good one and can see the potential image in my head, I can’t help myself, I have to get the shot! 🙂

I’ve slowly been building a collection of these architectural images over the years, but have kept them to myself since it’s not a style of work that I’m known for, and artists are often advised to “stay in their lane” and not confuse their collectors with different work. But it looks like the secret it out 🙂, and it feels really special (plus it’s a huge encouragement!) to get recognized for something that I’ve hesitated to share.

You might just see more of these kind of images from me in the future!
